How the checker scores a name

Full method
  1. Length

Shorter is worth more, without exception — the supply of short names is mathematically capped.

  2. Extension

The .com carries the default: guessed URLs, investor emails and enterprise trust land there first.

  3. Pronounceability

A name that survives being heard once converts every mention into a visit — the radio test.

  4. Meaning

Real words and clean compounds arrive with marketing built in; inventions ride on sound alone.

  5. Clean spelling

Hyphens and digits leak traffic and create a permanent explanation tax.

The verdict is a tier, never a dollar figure: real prices depend on context — the buyer, the moment, the use — and are set by comparable sales, not formulas. Full method — including how to pull comps yourself — in How much is a domain worth? and What makes a domain premium?.

Good to know

Common questions

Is this checker really free?

Completely — no sign-up, no email gate, no credit system. It runs entirely in your browser; the name you type is never sent to our servers.

Why doesn’t it give a dollar value?

Because no formula can. Automated “appraisals” that output $2,347 are pattern-matching dressed as precision — two of them routinely disagree by 5× on the same name, and real prices swing enormously with context: who needs the name, when, and for what. A qualitative tier is what a formula honestly supports; comparable sales and the buyer do the rest.

My domain scored low — is it worthless?

Not to you, necessarily: a domain serving a working business earns its keep regardless of resale value. The score reads the name as a tradable asset. Most registered domains — the honest number is the overwhelming majority — resell for nothing, which is exactly why the few that score high are worth real money.

Can I sell my domain to Namarium?

We buy almost exclusively through our own sourcing pipeline, and we reject nearly everything we scout. If you believe your name clears our bar, open a ticket — you’ll get a straight answer either way.
